For families going through hardships like job loss, divorce, or hospitalization, homelessness may be just one missed rent payment away. Local shelters report that many newly unhoused families in North Texas cite eviction as the final event that pushed them over the edge, not addiction or unemployment, but simply rent they could no longer afford. The Escape Eviction team works to help families at risk of eviction get back on track by providing emergency financial assistance, connecting them with legal resources and advocacy when eviction actions disregard tenant rights or fail to comply with housing laws, and coordinating free clinics and counseling to support long-term stability and independence.

Our mission is to prevent families in Dallas County from experiencing homelessness by responding to immediate needs in times of crisis.
